The nuances of landing Minx

In order for the trees to grow and develop well, it is necessary to adhere to some rules of agricultural technology:

  1. The variety can be planted both in spring and autumn, it all depends on the climatic characteristics of the growing region.
  2. It is better to choose seedlings for planting at least two years of age and carefully check the root system for damage.
  3. It is better to plant Minx in sunny areas in the absence of the threat of strong northerly winds.
  4. The variety is not so picky about the composition of the soil, but loam or sandy loam soils will be the best for cherries.
  5. The planting hole must always be prepared well in advance. If your site has heavy soils, thin them with sand.
  6. If you plan to plant more than one tree, but two or more, you must provide for a minimum interval of three meters between adjacent trees.

Minx care basics

As you could already understand, Minx is a very unpretentious variety. However, for healthy growth and abundant fruiting, the tree should be properly cared for:

  1. Systematic watering is strictly according to the schedule. The cherry will need the first watering at the end of flowering, the second - at the time of ovary formation, then the tree needs to be watered after harvesting. The final and one of the most important watering is the water-charging autumn one before wintering. To have enough watering, be guided by the following parameter: the soil must be wet to a depth of at least forty centimeters.
  2. Competent feeding. In early spring, the fruit tree is favorably fed with rotted compost and ammonium sulfate. The amount of the latter should be taken at the rate of 30 grams per square meter of soil. Once every three years, superphosphate can be added to such a feeding.
  3. Annual pruning. This necessary procedure will help to avoid thickening of the crown, has a beneficial effect on the quality of the crop and prolongs the life of the crop. The very first pruning is required for trees at the time of planting.
  4. Prevention of diseases and pests. Since the variety is resistant to most diseases, there are usually no problems in this matter. It is enough to get rid of sick and damaged branches in a timely manner and burn them outside the site. It is equally important to keep the trunk circles clean, because pests can multiply under the layer of plant debris. Pruning is also an excellent preventive measure.

Growing Minx is pretty simple. The variety will be of interest to both beginners and experienced gardeners. Use minimal effort, take proper care of the tree, and they will answer you with a generous harvest of juicy fruits.
