Overview made within the framework of the Eurasian Prize "Golden Photon" on light engineering and electrical engineering. The publication of an independent opinion of the author. Manufacturing companies and the award "Golden Photon" do not affect the outcome of the review.

Nowadays, many people choose products especially for the price, considering that if the data provided is more or less the same, it is better to take what is cheaper. But as you know, avaricious pays twice.
I had the opportunity to test the lamp LEDeffect Optima SSI and compare it with the cheap lamp.

LEDeffect DCCH Optima LE-18 W DCCH-28-018-3199-67X designed to illuminate the surrounding territory, district roads, squares and parks, bike paths, sports and industrial facilities. The fixture has a degree of protection from the environment IP 67 and operates at temperatures from -60 to +50 ° C.

Front panel with LEDs in this lamp swivel that allows to change the angle of inclination.

Secondary optics of the light-stabilized polycarbonate forms a wide and uniform directivity diagram of the light, allowing the light to create a comfortable environment.

The manufacturer lists the following characteristics of the lamp:

Power: 18 W;
Luminous flux: 2820 lumens;
Color temperature: 5000K;
Color rendering index: CRI> 80;
Ripple light flux: less than 1%;
Power supply: 175-264V;
Power factor, PF: 0.98;
Energy: 150 lm / W;
Lifetime: 50 000 hours;
Warranty: 3 years;
Overall dimensions (LWH): 489h113h86 mm;
Weight: 3.2 kg (actual weight 2.7 kg).

I measured parameters of the lamp after heating for an hour.

All parameters of an application. The measured light output was at 2% less than claimed, but it is within the normal range (I try make measurements as accurate as possible, but according to GOST error of measurement of the light flux may up to 10%). Just below the statement had the power factor, but also an excellent result 0.93.

The effectiveness of this luminaire is impressive: 2765 lm / W 17.9 = 154.5 lm / W!

Although the producer and said operating voltage range of 175-264 V, lamp operates without reducing brightness at low supply voltage to 92 volts (hereinafter I use the word "brightness" is not as a technical term, but as a household word for the number of Sveta).

LEDeffect Optima SCU 18 watts worth of 6800 rubles. Almost the same is the lamp Aton DKU-AT-102Having power on the passport in five and a half times greater - 100 watts.

But it is enough to take both of the lamp in his hands and the difference becomes immediately noticeable: 18-watt LEDeffect weighs 2.7 kg, and stovattny Aton - only 1.6 kg.

On the website and in the lamp Aton passport given different options. To give the parameters of the passport:

Power consumption: 100 W;
Luminous flux: 11,600 lm;
Color temperature: 5000 K;
Color rendering index: 85;
pulsation ratio: 10%;
Operating voltage: 209-231 V (220 ± 5%);
Power factor, PF: 0.55;
Degree of protection: IP67;
Dimensions: 420x240x60 mm;
Weight: 1.1 kg (actually 1.6 kg);
Service life of LED: more than 100,000 hours;
Warranty: 3 years.

I measured parameters of the lamp Aton DKU-AT-102.

The measured light flux 10355 lm was at 11% lower than the declared, and 7% higher than the stated capacity. The efficacy of this lamp was 10355 lm / W 107.02 = 96.8 lm / W.

sufficiently high color rendering index: CRI (Ra) = 83.6 (albeit claimed below 85), the light pulsation rate is 7.8%.

Specify a good light, but there are nuances. I measured the light output at a supply voltage of 230 volts. By lowering the voltage to 220V luminous flux incident on 6%. At minimum voltage operating range claimed by the manufacturer - 209 The brightness of the lamp decreases by 13%. But sometimes in networks and 180 V. At this voltage the lamp luminous flux Aton be only 66% of nominal, and LEDeffect will shine without reducing brightness. This is due to the fact that cheap used Aton line driver and brightness varies linearly from the inlet voltage, and is equipped with a pulse LEDeffect driver supporting the same brightness across a very wide voltage range power. We can say that this lamp is equipped with a voltage regulator.

The second caveat - power factor. For domestic use PF = 0.53 is quite normal, but for street lighting will not do - such consumption creates an additional burden on the substation. According to the decree of the Government of Russia 1356 "On approval of requirements for lighting devices and electric bulbs, used in AC circuits for lighting "power ratio of LED lamps with a power of more than 20W should be not less than 0.9.

The third caveat - heating. After one hour of operation LEDeffect hardly warmed - maximum case temperature 39 ° C.

Aton warmed so that it was impossible to touch the high temperature: 77 ° C.

Overheating of LEDs leads to their degradation and premature failure. Of course, the high temperature of the body does not mean that LEDs overheat (heat can be dissipated to the housing and the temperature LED mode perhaps it has been respected), but still it can be assumed that in hot climates such a lamp fail faster, and he will have to moderate not easy.

The measured parameters of both are close to the lamps, both lamps provide enough light quality, but the difference between them is very large: it is production quality and efficiency, and the use of different types of drivers, which allows high-quality lamp operate in a wide range of supply voltages without changing the brightness, and the presence or absence of power factor correction, and the design heat removal system.

That's only if you select fixtures on the parameters and price of this difference is very difficult to realize.

In the autumn of this year will be held summarizing lighting engineering and electrical engineering award "Golden Photon". Lamp LEDeffect Optima SKU 18W LE-UWC-28-018-3199-67X was one of the nominees in the category of the award "Product of the Year".
