In our country, you must always be on the alert, because every now and then they strive to deceive you. You can often run into cheating in stores. And we are talking not only about grocery, but also construction points. I want to share with you the most common fraud schemes in the building materials market.

1.One of the most popular cheating options is incorrect measurements.

Let's say a board, which is only 23 millimeters thick, is sold to you as an inch. As a result, you buy a material of lesser thickness, and pay money as if it were thicker. The profit goes into the pocket of the point owner.

Look here. The volume of a board measuring 23 * 150 * 6000 mm is 0.0207 cubic meters. The "inch" that you need has a volume of 0.0225 cubic meters. We get a difference of 8%. It turns out that you overpay for the material. If you take several boards, then the deception can be overlooked. But with large purchases, the losses are significant.

When you go to the market for building materials, do not forget to bring a tape measure with you. Measure the boards carefully so that the seller cannot fool you by slipping thinner boards.

2.Another way to cheat is to sell smaller amounts of material.

Many implementers like to round numbers in the direction that suits them. For example, a salesperson might say that a cubic meter of inch holds 44 boards. Let's check if this is true. If we return to the previous calculations, we get that there should be 44.4 boards in 1 cubic meter. This means that the seller simply misses 0.4 boards.

I would like to share with you a table that clearly shows how many boards should be contained in one cubic meter.

3.The third scam: you are being sold one breed instead of another.

As a rule, sellers sell aspen instead of linden. These types of beams are suitable for finishing steam rooms. Only linden is more durable, better withstands prolonged exposure to moisture. It also costs an order of magnitude more, less rotting.

Outwardly, aspen and linden are very similar to each other, it is very difficult for a common man to distinguish them from each other. Fortunately, there are effective ways. First, pay attention to the color. Aspen is almost white, and linden is darker, close to the color of coffee.

You should also look at the knots. On linden boards they are small, light, barely noticeable. Aspen boards usually have dark knots with a bright pattern.

Of course, the smell must not be forgotten. The aromas of these two tree species are very different.

4.Often unscrupulous sellers try to pass off illiquid assets for quality goods, overstating the price.

All the requirements for sawn timber are spelled out in the corresponding GOSTs. They take into account both the deviations of the boards from ideal values, and the number of knots that fall on each meter, and cracks, and resin pockets, etc.

Please note, if the seller claims to sell Extra boards, they are probably trying to cheat you. Virtually all premium materials are exported from our country.

If you buy boards in large quantities, the seller can hide goods with fungus and defects among the quality material. To mask imperfections, retailers often use bleaching agents.

In order not to get into an unpleasant situation, you need to carefully monitor the loading of building materials, check at least minimally which boards are being sold to you. Naturally, you will spend time and effort on this, but the result will quickly pay off.
