Identifying ticks

The favorite habitat for ticks in the country will not be the beds, but the lawn and shaded corners with trees and bushes. They sit on tall blades of grass and stems, waiting for their prey. There is a simple method for detecting them, which has been carried out since May:

  • the edge of a white towel is attached to a stick;
  • after the morning dew disappears, they pass over the grass with a cloth, like a broom;
  • if there are ticks, then they will definitely cling, they are easy to spot on white.

This is done every day for 10-14 days in a row, then 1-2 times a week is enough. The number of ticks will gradually decrease.

Site protection

Initially, they get rid of rodents, which are mainly carried by ticks. In the spring, bait traps are set. Heaps of trash and boards are removed from the site, as they serve as a home for pests.

They regularly cut the lawn up to 5-10 cm in height, and remove all vegetable debris in a timely manner.

From a strip of gravel 50 cm wide, make a border from mites around the site. Adult insects are not able to cover this distance. An additional obstacle will be plantings with a special smell:

  • mint;
  • lavender;
  • chamomile medicinal;
  • marigolds;
  • chrysanthemums.

Bird feeders will attract blackbirds and wagtails. They eat most garden pests.

Folk recipes:

  • fresh citrus juice is diluted in water 1: 2 and sprayed on the territory;
  • add 15 drops of rosemary or mint oil to 1 liter of water, shake and spray.

If the number of ticks is too large, then you cannot do without the help of specialists with professional preparations-acaricides.

Self defense

In the area infected with ticks, light-colored clothing is worn, the collar is fastened, the pants are tucked into socks and boots. If there are many trees around, then wear a hat or cap.

They use tick repellents, they are almost harmless to humans. They are applied to skin or clothing. Spray your feet especially thoroughly. Damp weather will shorten the duration of the product.

Protection for children

In May, June and August, when bloodsucking is the most active period, they monitor the clothes of children at their summer cottage:

  • light colors are preferred;
  • long sleeves, preferably reinforced with an elastic band;
  • shirt and legs tucked in;
  • on the head is a scarf, a light hat or a hood.

During walks, the child is periodically examined. After that, the skin must be checked, including the following areas:

  • hair and area around;
  • ears, armpits;
  • abdomen, groin area;
  • under the knees, feet and between the toes.

Repellents are allowed for children from 3 years old. Until this age, only the bottom of the pants, the stroller outside, the sides and wheels are processed.

Pets

Cats or dogs may not be harmed by ticks themselves, but they can bring them into the house. In the spring, they wear sliding jumpsuits. Chemical protection is represented by the following drugs:

  • pills;
  • drops;
  • sprays;
  • collars.
No product gives a full guarantee, therefore all parts of the body are regularly examined in animals. If the instruction permits, then the drugs are combined. If an embedded tick is found, they urgently contact the veterinarian.
