Good afternoon, my reader. A common feature of all varieties and species is that their leaves look like spread fingers of the palm. The dense crown is shaped like an umbrella, which is why some people call it the “umbrella tree”.

At home, the shefler does not bloom, but all the beauty of the plant is not manifested in flowering. The flowers are inconspicuous, they look like pale tentacles, all the showiness and beauty of the cheflera lies in its leaves.
In total, about 200 species of this plant are found in nature, most of which grow in the tropics. They are represented by shrubs, trees and even lianas. About 10 species are grown at home.
Popular types of shefler
Four types are most often grown at home:
- radiant;
- eight-leafed;
- tree-like;
- palmate.
All of them are neat, they look stylish, so these types can often be seen in offices. Radiant (the second name is star-leaved) differs from other species in the number of leaves, it has 16 of them. The leaves are long, rounded at the ends, the tree itself grows very quickly and reaches almost 3 meters in height.
Fingered Sheflera is compact, has up to 8 adult leaves. The leaves resemble ellipses in shape, slightly pointed at the ends.
Arboreal boasts a complex composite shape of leaves, which are located in 7 - 16 leaves in one cup at a time. Leaves can be pointed or rounded at the ends. The tree-like tree reaches a height of 1.3 meters.
Eight-leafed is rare, although it is decorative. She has from 8 to 12 leaves on one tree. They are pointed, with long white veins.
How to organize competent care
Sheflera does not require any special or complex care. Pay attention to the following factors, the observance of which will create favorable conditions for the chefs:
- Lighting - the cheflera feels equally well in diffused light and in a slight darkening. In the summer, the flower can be taken out to bask in the sun, but do not let the leaves get into direct sunlight. In winter, try to extend the daylight hours for the chef.
- The ideal temperature for a plant is 20 degrees. If it drops to 17, it won't hurt the flower. But if it rises by a few degrees, then the cheflera will shed the leaves.
IMPORTANT! Do not place the plant near batteries, radiators, heaters and other hot objects!
- Watering should be regular, because the chefler does not tolerate overdried soil. Pouring the flower is also not worth it, this contributes to the acidification of the soil and the death of the roots later. Water the flower once every 2 days in summer and 2 times a week in winter.
- Top dressing must be applied once a week in the spring and once a month in the winter. Alternate between mineral and organic fertilizers, you can combine them or use special mixtures from flower shops.
Transplantation and reproduction sheflers
Shefler is transplanted to a permanent place for several plants at once, so it will take on the appearance of a spectacular bush. Every two years it needs to be transplanted into a pot much larger than the previous one. Sheflera prefers a slightly acidic soil consisting of humus, turf, sand and drainage.
There are three ways to propagate the chefler:
- Cuttings are separated from the top, kept in a growth stimulator and rooted in a special mixture of soil and humus.
- Air layers can only be taken from adult plants - moss is placed in the cut on the stem, after a while roots will appear in this place. Then the trunk with roots can be cut off and planted in prepared soil.
- The seeds are germinated at a temperature of 24 to 27 degrees, after the leaves appear, they can be transplanted into pots, and after a couple of months they can be planted in permanent places.
