Good afternoon, my reader. Spring comes quite unexpectedly: the garden comes to life after hibernation, the cold is replaced by the first warming rays of the sun, the first shoots appear, and the buds of garden trees are filled with juice.

After the cold season, plants and soil need care more than ever, so you definitely need to pay attention to the entire garden.
1. Pruning branches of trees and bushes.
First of all, you need to carry out sanitary pruning of branches from shrubs and trees. Winter sheds are removed, old and broken branches are cut, as well as those that interfere with the normal growth of the plant. The cut must be neat and even: an infection can get into the plant through the crooked saw cut.
In fruit trees, you need to clean the bole (the section of the trunk emerging from the ground) from old bark, remove moss and lichens, and also close up large cracks.
2. Garbage collection in the garden.
Debris is often hidden under a layer of snow: fallen leaves left over from the fall, small branches and rotten fruit remains. Spring is the time for a general cleaning. Organic waste should be collected in a compost heap - it will still be needed on the site, but cellophane waste and bottles should be taken out into a container.
3. Preparing the beds for the new season.
The main work on the garden area begins with the preparation of the land plot. It is important to gently "wake up" the soil so that the plants feel comfortable when planting. You can warm up the beds with a thick film that is laid out on the surface. As soon as the ambient temperature reaches a positive mark, you can remove the film and loosen the ground with a rake. Do not loosen too deeply - this can disturb the structure of the soil.
4. Making compost.
The compost heap is an invaluable fertilizer for any garden plant. A variety of organic waste is suitable for her: last year's leaves and fruits, cut branches, potato skins, and so on. Fruit plants, as a rule, do not have enough natural substances, so compost will be an excellent solution to the problem of lack of useful elements and will help bring a large harvest. And compost can also save a summer resident's money.
5. First crops.
In April, you can start sowing some cold-resistant crops: peas, carrots, cabbage, beans, greens, and so on. Even if the garden plot is located on the sunny side and is well protected from the wind, the first plants can be planted only when the ground warms up to +5 C.
6. Planting the first seedlings.
It is necessary to plant seedlings only in warm soil without frozen land. Spring seedlings love the warm ground, so they will grow strong and strong. The main thing is to have time to plant them before the buds swell.
7. Treatment from parasites.
It is best to process plants in the spring with a bordeaux liquid sprayer.
Be sure to inspect all plants for parasites and infections. The infected areas must be cut off and burned. You can simplify your pest control task - just attract birds that feed on parasites to your site. Hang a birdhouse with delicious grains, birds will become frequent guests of the gardener's site. And the reason for joy will be not only their melodious songs, but also freedom from pests.
There is never enough work on the summer cottage, but if you prepare for the upcoming season in time, then the gardener will definitely not have problems.
