Blogger Anna has repeatedly surprised her with her ideas for updating rented apartments. This time she was not at all satisfied with the kitchen of the previous owners, decorated in the style of the 90s. The girl, as always, set to work with special zeal, for this alteration she needed 4 days and only 3.5 thousand rubles. rubles.
The kitchen is where people spend most of their time. And it doesn't matter if it will be the hostess who prepares tasty things for the whole family, or the household members themselves, running down to the aromas. For this reason, it is the kitchen that they try to put in order in the first place, even if it is rented accommodation. Naturally, there are times when homeowners categorically prohibit making any repairs, changing equipment or furniture, but there are exceptions.
Anna, a fairly well-known blogger who loves to experiment and is not afraid of any dirty work, took advantage of this exception, trying to do everything herself. Having moved to another apartment, where repairs were done in the early 90s, and then only some fashionable adjustments were made at that time, with her usual zeal she took up the renovation of the interior.
To get rid of the annoying reddish-beige color that simply flooded the tiny 5 m² kitchen, Anna decided to take a radical step. In order to get rid of the film, you need not only to free the cabinets and remove them from the wall, but also to unscrew the cabinet doors and facades from the drawers, remove the fittings.
Then use a preheated iron and burnished / baking paper to gradually remove the material. It will take a lot of time, but in the end you will get a surface already prepared for painting. Side walls, which are usually not covered with foil and varnish, can be sanded a little with fine abrasive paper to improve adhesion to the paint.
To create an original picture in the cabinet, which has a facade with glass inserts, Anna decided to paint the inner back wall in a special way. First, she applied white, and after drying, she pasted strips of masking tape and painted the spans with gray paint. Unfortunately, as the girl didn’t try, she still didn’t get a smooth edge.
Advice: Professionals advise buying premium masking tape for these purposes; immediately after gluing it to the surface, it must be well rolled with a rubber roller. After that, go through the paint of the color that will be the base, and only then contrast. In this case, the edge of the strip will be perfectly flat!
Since the kitchen is an area in which there is a lot of moisture and greasy drops, Anna opened all surfaces after the paint had completely dried with transparent furniture varnish.
But the experiments of the restless craftswoman did not end there. She decided to get rid of the wallpaper and just paint the walls. Using water, detergent and a spray bottle, she easily removed the wallpaper with which she immediately covered the floor so that it would not get dirty during painting. Since this is a rented apartment and a very limited budget, the girl did not even plan to level the walls, so she immediately started painting.
Advice from the authors of Novate. Ru: In such cases, you should not rush, and if there is no opportunity or time to level the surface, then it is still necessary to ideally clean the wall of glue. Otherwise, after a month, other paint will simply begin to crack and fall off with cakes.
Anna painted one side white, but the wall where the working area is located - black, and extended it into a common corridor. Naturally, on an unprepared wall surface, black (however, like any other) lays down in uneven spots, so I had to apply in two layers.
To update the cast-iron radiator, the girl painted it with black glossy paint. I painted the legs of the dining table and stools with the same paint. But I decided to decorate the tabletop in the decoupage style.
To begin with, I opened the tabletop with white paint, and after it had completely dried, I began to work. I bought in advance single-layer napkins of the color I liked and, with the help of PVA glue and a brush, neatly leveled them to perfect condition. When the surface was well dried, I opened it on top with a transparent furniture varnish and now the "new" table took its place in the kitchen.

With the renovation of the seats on the stools, she did it even easier - she just bought special pillows. When the dining room furniture was ready, Anna collected all the wall cabinets and attached the doors to the side tables.

Since replacing tiles and countertops is an expensive pleasure, the girl decided to leave this part of the furnishings in the form in which they were before the cosmetic transformations. After all the calculations, such an update took Anna almost 4 days and 3.5-4 thousand. rubles.
