In 80 out of 100 cases, a sudden fire is caused by a home wiring or an unplugged household appliance. And if the second big refers to the inattention of the tenants, then the first one can be dealt with, or rather, to prevent the problem on your own. It is enough only to correctly and accurately diagnose - and expensive professional masters will not be required here.

The most important thing is the switchboard

Which is located on the staircase, but many homeowners prefer to transfer the shield directly to an apartment or private house. It is with him that it is necessary to start diagnosing a home electrical network.

Step one: carefully open the flap, and then the most important operation should be performed - a visual inspection, which very often helps to quickly determine the malfunction.

The electrical control room should not contain:

  • Reflow-insulated wires.
  • Defective circuit breakers or burnt-out package bags.
  • "Zhukov" - a piece of wire, the cross-section of which is determined "by eye". The "bug" is used if the old "plugs" fail.

  • Any burning spots or blackened contacts.
  • Reliably loose busbars (neutral or ground).

A good and reliable shield is one in which groups of machines are accurately and correctly determined, the denomination of each packer and other switching devices, all connections are made with high quality, and the shield itself is still desirable close with a key.

Inspection of sockets

Why is it important to inspect the sockets immediately after the electrical panel? Because the lines that go to the sockets are considered power lines and are made of wires with a large cross section - at least 2.5 mm2. Accordingly, the threat to life is much more serious here.

Important! Before checking the sockets, turn off the input machine in the panel. Do not work under voltage!

A simple algorithm for checking sockets:

  1. Gently wiggle the plastic housing of the socket from side to side. If the device wobbles, it is necessary to remove the decorative cover and tighten the side screws that move the fixing tabs apart.
  2. Inspect the inside of the device to make sure the contacts are tight. If the wires are not securely fixed in the sockets, they should be tightened.
  3. Inspect the contacts, at the slightest traces of burning - clean them with a thin emery cloth or a small file. Be aware that poor contact can lead to fire.

The socket must be securely fixed in the socket, preferably flush with the wall, so as not to disturb the aesthetics of the home electrical network.

Check the metal housings of electrical appliances

How to do it? Using a conventional indicator screwdriver. It is enough just to touch the "indicator" of the case, for example, of the washing machine, and the illuminated LED will immediately notify about the presence of a potential difference dangerous to life and health. In order not to carry out such checks of devices in the future, it is best to install an RCD in the electrical control room - a device that will turn off the network at the slightest voltage difference in it.
