How to give the interior that very zest that distinguishes the work of a designer

Designer Dasha Ukhlinova shared a few unusual decor ideas that won't hit your wallet and will bring a fresh breath of air to any room.

7. Add live

If it seems to you that your interior lacks life and dynamics, try adding representatives of the animal world to it. No, it's not about pets, but about the images of our smaller brothers in paintings, figurines, ornaments and so on.

You can endlessly “tame” animalistic accents in design, and at the same time they will always cheer up and look actual, as they are inspired by nature itself.

6. Make the ordinary extraordinary

An expressive technique for creating a unique design is a radical change in the appearance of familiar things, but with the preservation of their functions. For example, a new look at the geometry of everyday objects.

Take a closer look at, say, diamond-shaped shelves, floor lamps with a broken silhouette, tables with intricate supports, wall clocks of unexpected shapes and asymmetric chandeliers.

5. Breathe history

Vintage items are not necessarily a luxury from expensive antique stores. This is what your family has kept for decades.

With the right context and after a little restoration, many, for example, Soviet decor items can naturally fit into a modern interior.

4. Borrow from another culture

You can also add ethnic motives to the design to give a bright character to the design.

If you carefully integrate a couple of interconnected objects that take into account the surroundings into the interior, referring to a specific culture, hardly anyone can name your bedroom or living room faceless.

Most of the ethnic items are original and you often want to hold your gaze at them. And they also add a touch of bohemian chic and a certain relaxation to your interior.

3. Accentuate with color

An unexpected accent in the interior can often be not so much the object itself or its shape as its color. Try to add a bright detail to a calm-gamut context, it doesn't even matter which one, and the room will literally sparkle with new colors.

A new thing can both enhance the overall palette or shades of individual elements, and introduce new colors.

2. Laugh at yourself

Often too strict and restrained design does not contribute to calm relaxation. Add some irony. So you will add original accents and make your home more comfortable.

A funny figurine, posters and, for example, a decorative pillow with a cute print - and the overall mood of the interior will become completely different.

1. Don't forget to add the most important thing - yourself

Personalization of the space will help to change the inexpressive interior. Don't be shy, this is your home! Add decor that characterizes you, your hobby or your occupation.

These can be unusual guitars, your pictures or paintings, travel souvenirs or just things that are dear to your heart.
