The interiors in Instagram photos seem perfect but out of reach. No matter how we try, in reality everything looks less elegant, faded and in a bad way home. However, there is certainly a chance to succeed, and with little blood.
In the first part designer Nika Dyuzheva told how to prepare a house or apartment for changes - what needs to be removed or adjusted before starting to create a new style. Now she has offered 9 tips that will finally help you achieve the desired result.
9. Use green plants
Any interior is decorated with greenery and flowers. However, the buds themselves are not universal for all premises. Many bouquets look too classic and “combed”, and therefore they do not lighten or refresh the interior. Meanwhile, the pictures on Instagram attract precisely with their lightness and airiness.
Therefore, the best win-win solution would be twigs and leaves of different sizes in a laconic vase. There should be a sense of naturalness, as if the plants came into your apartment directly from the field.
8. Don't over complicate the decor
Now the trend is towards a laconic and simple in terms of form decor, which can be seen in the photo on Instagram. These items should not be accentuated, with their unobtrusiveness they are designed to create depth and volume in the interior.
These can be the usual geometric shapes - cubes, circles, thin rectangular or oval frames without baguettes for photos or mirrors. The décor can of course be unique and catchy, but then it must play in contrast to the basic neutral setting.
7. Combine different textures
The decor should be varied in color and texture, items should not be from the same set. It can look too formal and forced. A slight negligence, on the contrary, will add more liveliness and airiness.
At the same time, negligence, of course, should not grow into chaos - compatibility, albeit in a more subtle version, should be preserved.
6. Use textiles that are solid but complex in color
If the interior is already complicated and filled, it can be soothed with plain textiles. Moreover, this color itself should be deeper, including halftones - not just blue or green.
The more complex and uncertain the shade of textiles, the better it will fit into the interior. This applies to upholstery, curtains, and bed linen.
5. Give up furniture sets
Better to combine different items - that is, not from the same collection. For example, chairs. At the same time, you should not use too complex accent models.
For example, only one of the group can stand out noticeably, or combine different, but simpler objects in one zone. So the furniture group will not be a boring set, but an interesting mosaic.
4. Do not hang, but put pictures
Try to move some decor items from your usual places. For example, paintings. We are used to seeing them on the walls, but canvases and posters can also be placed on a shelf, dresser or table, and if they are large, on the floor.
In addition, an interesting composition can be made from the paintings by leaning them against the wall overlapping one another. Objects of art do not always have to be accent, they can complement the background, and therefore it is not always necessary to allocate a special place for them on the wall.
3. Add other pictures to your photos
If you have a whole wall and a group of frames with your personal photos, dilute them with other pictures as well. It can be almost any background and not too intrusive images - city views, flowers, abstractions, and so on.
They diversify the abundance of faces, and also, possibly, refresh them favorably, creating a kind of information gaps, and make the overall composition more original.
2. Use floor lamps
Light composition plays an important role. More live lighting can be brought in by removing the tulle. Artificial will help highlight dark corners or areas.
Floor lamps will be one of the best solutions. Sconces are tied to the walls, and table lamps provide limited lighting and can conflict with décor in terms of weight and size.
1. Create your own unique style
That being said, never be afraid to create your own unique style if you really love it. Bring into the interior what gives you real joy and happiness. And no matter what friends say, relatives or followers from Instagram.
The main thing is that the house or apartment where you live is beautiful not for others, but for yourself personally.
